February 2008 ~ Sensible measure or chainsaw massacre?

These are the scenes that greet walkers by the Quaggy in Weigall Road Recreation Ground as the Environment Agency's felling of river bank trees continues. QWAG understands that this is to stop tree branches impeding the river's flow and causing flooding. But a local resident who alerted us has called their actions "high-handed and unnecessary."

QWAG has requested further details from the Agency and will post an article on this issue when further infomration is available.
