March 2008 ~ East side story
The River Quaggy emerges from a culvert beneath the east side pavement of Lewisham High Street in front of the recently built police station. The plan to open up this culvert and improve the river as far the driveway (just beyond the further bus shelter) has been quietly dropped.
A full account of the wasted opportunity to naturalise the Quaggy and integrate it into the surrounding landscape along the east side of Lewisham High Street will be posted shortly.
