7. Less concrete, more wildlife.
An advantage of storing floodwater is that we can get rid of the concrete and have a natural river again. Then there are more places for wildlife to live, the river looks more attractive and people look after it better. Fish and all sorts of mini-beasts take up residence in the water. Banks are soon covered in plants.
